    Greetings.

    One obvious error (www.ed.gov/PressReleases/07-2003/07182003.html ):

While "ninety percent of institutions that offered distance education courses" might have "indicated that they offered Internet courses using asynchronous (not simultaneous) computer-based instruction and 43 percent offered Internet courses using synchronous (simultaneous) computer-based instruction as a primary technology for instructional delivery", that doesn't mean that "The Internet was most often used as a primary mode of instructional delivery for distance education courses by institutions during the 12-month 2000-2001 academic year."

Quite probably, 100% of the institutions mentioned have vending machines on their campuses, it does not follow that vending machines are a primary technology for instructional delivery. Ohio University, for example, offers several courses over the Internet, but it is their paper-based courses (I suspect) that are their (distance) bread-and-butter.

    Cordially,
    Richard Kanarek
