Will I duplicate credit with GRE?

Thanks to this site and its contributors, I have earned 33 credits by examination in the last month. I am planning to complete my first BA in 5 to 6 months. I will probably enroll in TESC for a BA in Lib. Arts and my question is:

Since 9-12 of my planned credits will be in psychology, will I be able to take the GRE psychology exam and get the full 30 credits at Excelsior for a second degree? Has anyone ever done this?

I am not finding any of the "big 3" to be of much help without handing over $$$.

*The reason for the second degree is that I do not need a GPA now, but I do need a degree (hence TESC). I do perceive that in the distant future I will need a GPA for graduate work (hence Excelsior).

    Thanks in advance,
    Chris

    Congratulations.

Did you see my thread Psychology GRE: idea for non top-scorers? It won't answer your question, but it has all the info I know.

If Excelsior College rules that 12 credits are duplicative, how big a deal can it be to pick up 12 credits elsewhere? So why should that determine your plans? Are you also keeping in mind the possibility that -- like 80% of the people who take a GRE subject exam -- you won't score well enough to get all 30 credits?

Excelsior only awards "Pass" credit for GRE scores, not letter grades, so that's going to be a pretty watered-down GPA.

    Thanks for the reply.

I checked the link and it appears that I would duplicate. I don't suppose it is a big deal, but I would rather not take any more exams than necessary.

I realize that I may not score high enough, but I am confident that I would. I don't mind spending 6 months preparing for a GRE exam.

Hmmm...I suppose you are right. I am thinking that if I had 60-70 graded credits that my GPA would be sufficient for graduate work, but I do not suppose the bare minimum is going to look great when applying.

Maybe I should bite the bullet and go for a GPA now. I will look at COSC again.
