Japan shake-up of higher-education system

  1. JAPAN WILL EMBARK THIS FALL on the biggest shake-up of its
    higher-education system since the end of World War II.

    Legislation approved on Wednesday will turn state-run
    universities into independent administrative institutions and
    will eliminate the civil-service status of nearly 125,000
    faculty members.

    If we'd just ...

    I'll tell you right now, if we'd just do the same for our K-12 here in the US, we'd watch the quality of education go straight up through the roof, which ain't too high right now!

    Competition has a way of bringing out the best, you know.
