Any new updates or information regarding Berne University? I notice their website offers VA and Sallie Mae loans now.
Also the tuition has just about doubled from 7500.00 to over 11K.

Though based in New Hampshire I see the Virgin Islands.

There is not much in regards to the archive file here.

    Thoughts?

I am not one of the resident experts here, but I am learning.

I don't think that Berne University may be such a great choice.

It sounds expensive, and I don't believe it has regional accreditation or even DETC. With out same your degree will be of little value.

If it doesn't, It may not be a wise choice. I would do further research and look at some RA or DETC Universities.

    Hope this helps a little.

Berne University is also on the list of illegal institutions in Oregon, hence I would seek alternatives.

I admit I may not know all the facts, however this "University" looks suspect.

Only because it is. Veteran 101, there are about 150 older threads involving Berne.
I remember it had been discussed in some detail--perhaps a year ago??? As I recall, there was discussion of a college teacher who could or could not list his Berne degree in publicity materials, as well as discussion of the legitimacy of accreditation by a very small country with no homegrown system of higher education.

If I recall from their web site, tuition w/residency is about 18,000 +. This is roughly the cost of NCU which is RA.

A Berne PhD has been evaluated by one or two recognized Foreign Credential Evaluators as equivalent to a US PhD. May mean some utility (likely not much in academia). However, a F. Credential Evaluation is no guarentee of a job and you need to take into consideration possible reactions to your degree from potential employers who see St. Kitts. Island degrees were the butt of a joke on Frazier in one episode. St. Kitts does not have a well recognized education system. Suppose you could get certified as a school superintendent, would a board look differently at your PhD from St. Kitts & Nevis earned through distance learning than they would a US based program (even DL) or one from a more well recognized foreign education system.

Also, personally, I think 18,000 is a little (a lot) pricey for what Berne offers.

Berne operates from New Hampshire (not St. Kitts and Nevis, where it is "accredited) without the benefit of accreditation, or even state licensure.

That this continues says far more about New Hampshire than it does about Berne.
