Anybody used these? They seem like a pretty painless way to study for an exam or augment a DL course. They're having a sale, but the tapes are still expensive enough to give me pause.

I have used these tapes extensively but not for studying. Typically I listen to them while driving to and from work. As for the cost, I've found them readily available through interlibrary loan.

I have been listening my way though the argumentation course while commuting via public transit; I think it's excellent. I'm just doing this for fun, it has nothing to do with any class. I will probably try to interlibrary loan some others when I finish this course.

I have never used these courses as study aids. While I think lectures are a good teaching method I feel that it be a slow way to study for an exam or augment a DL course.

Actually, I am taking a break from listening to lectures because my son just finished the new Harry Potter book, and its my turn to read it. When I finish with Harry I'll go back to argumentation.

I used the Western Civilization Teaching Company series to study for the C.L.E.P. Western Civ II exam. I found it very helpful, but it did not cover everything on the test.

I also used audiobook rentals which include many of the titles, unabridged, on the recommended reading lists for DANTES and CLEP exams, especially the history exams. The books are available for rental from three major suppliers:
    1. www.blackstoneaudio.com
    2. www.booksontape.com
    3. www.recordedbooks.com.
