Has anyone been through the Stanford Advanced Project Management program? I'm seriously looking into it, but was curious to see if anyone had participated and what the feedback was. Thanks!

    Yes

I am sure that two or more persons of this board did it. I cannot recall their names.

Do a search on SCPM and Stanford.. You should find some info.

    Thanks

I am currently completing my program with Stanford. If you have questions, ask away :)

I am finishing the program this year. It is more theoretical/conceptual than the PMP and is an excellent follow-on to that credential. They are spot on with practical examples of engineering project management. You need to be company sponsored and the company needs to be registered with Stanford. The lecture content and professors are first rate however the on-line lecture technical aspects are a bit tedious over a 56k modem. Many dropouts and rebuffering. They would do better to distribute their lectures via CD-ROM with time limited access.

I am the "second person" who has completed the SCMP program. Please feel free to ask any questions you may have. :)

    Re: Re: Stanford

I respectfully disagree. I remember one student-asked question during Project Management Mastery where it was asked what the difference between this offering and the PMP was. The answer, which I strongly agree with, is that the PMP was more theoretical/conceptual, and that the SCMP focused on stripping away as much of the theoretical/conceptual parts as required to teach you the practical, day-to-day stuff you would encounter in your work.

Not true. A quick call to Stanford earlier today confirmed this.

Totally agree!!! I use 6MB SDSL and still have the same problems you do.

conceptual/practical... elements of both in each program.

Thanks for clearing the registration bit up Christian. I must have been thinking of their Management Science & Engineering program.

Does your certificate say Stanford University on it or does it say The Stanford Center for Professional Development?

The transcripts indicate both. Haven't seen the diploma yet.
