    Hi

Does Excelsior gives letter grades on the credit bank program?

Could you transfer these credits on the credit bank to another college, even if you have not been enrolled in Excelsior?

    Thanks

The credit bank allows you to accumulate credits from various sources, including residential or distance learning college courses (from regionally accredited and certain NYS recognized sources), CLEP, GRE, DANTES and some others-- so you can consolidate your academic record on one transcript. If one gets a letter grade in a college course, it can appear as a letter grade on the transcript (but without pluses or minuses-- an "A+" or "A-" will appear as an "A"). A numerical score or other nonletter grade will appear as a "P" on the transcript.
Very often, colleges and universities require applicants to submit transcripts from the schools in which course credits were originally earned.

A credit-bank transcript does not identify upper-level credit.

    Hi Don

The way I understand it, if get a 60 on the CLEP Principles of Management, that would be an (A) on the excelsior credit bank transcript. Assuming this is correct, would I be able to transfer that (A) to another college? or is the new college just going to the original CLEP scores and stamp passed on their transcript.

    Thanks

Many (but not all) institutions require documentation from the original source of credit. In the case of the CLEP exam, that would be the College Board. As for giving letter grade equivalencies, that would depend on the policies of the recipient
institution. (My local college would give a "P" for this particular test).
If the recipient college does accept Excelsior transcripts as the official record, the "A" may well be judged as transfer credit. (Transfer credits are often not averaged in with the courses taken at the recipient institution, even in the case of colleges which list the transfer grades on their transcript). You should check with the college to which you intend to transfer.

Correction to a previous post--- Excelsior College will give a
"P" grade to any numerical score where letter grade equivalencies
    are not officially established.
