Prof. Daniel Eisenberg, Associate Dean of Liberal Arts at Excelsior College, "pleaded guilty to the felony charges. He was also ordered to resign from his position at the college."

As I said in a thread that was lost in the disk crash, I am indeed saddened to pass on this news. I am sure we would all like to add that Dr Eisenberg's contributions to alt.education.distance, and to this forum last year, show him to have been one of the most helpful people at Excelsior; that his CV shows him to be a distinguished scholar who takes distance learning very seriously; and that the college cannot be blamed for what he did during his off hours.

Excelsior has not yet updated its Website. The Website slates him to teach a course "Cervantes and Western Civilization" in January 2004: http://www.excelsior.edu/crs_ctlg.htm

Considering what he did (possession of child pornography), I feel no sympathy for him whatsoever. Nor do I think his past achievements mitigate his actions in the slightest.

If I were in charge of such things, Dr. Eisenberg would be behind bars for a long, long time.
