Hello, I just came across the name of City University. I am just wondering if someone can offer me more information about the accreditation of it. From their homepage, it says "The university's undergraduate and graduate business degree programs are accredited by the International Assembly for Collegiate Business Education (IACBE)." And "The university is a member of ... the American Assembly of Collegiate Schools of Business...". Does this imply that it is a AACSB/IACBE accredited institute? Can someone help me clarify this, I appreciate it very much! Thanks, /WZ
If it's City University of Los Angeles, it's a fraud and you should avoid it. If it's City University in Washington State, it's a well regarded distance learning program that is regionally accredited. Hope that helps.
I've generally heard good things about City University in Bellevue Washington -- http://www.cityu.edu/ City University is incorporated in the state of Washington and holds regional institutional accreditation from the Commission on Colleges of the Northwest Association of Schools and Colleges. The university's undergraduate and graduate business degree programs are accredited by the International Assembly for Collegiate Business Education (IACBE). But WHEN will they add some useful information to the distance learning portion of their site? It's been "under construction/revision" for what seems like forever. ------------------ Kristin Evenson Hirst DistanceLearn.About.com [email protected]
City U (in Washington) is yet another example of a school whose marketing leaves much to be desired. The fact that the distance learning portion of their website has been "under construction" for over a year (as I recall) is inexcusable. It would take five minutes to put up an apology and an explanation, much less useful information. Nonetheless, it is a well regarded school, and one of a modest number of distance programs in business that are accredited by the prestigious AACSB (which, just to confuse us, has chosen to keep that 'name' even after changing what it stands for to: International Assembly for Collegiate Business Education. There are more than 250 properly-accredited schools with distance degrees (Bachelor's, Master's, and Doctorate), which vary widely in academic model, cost, time, and other factors. Oh, dear. I just identified myself as: "Co-author, Beras' Guide to the Best MBAs by Distance Learning www.degree.net While a series of Yogi's Educaional Guides is a charming thought ("You haven't earned the degree until you've earned the degree..." "Should your school be accredited or unaccredited? Yes!"), that is not my project.
