Well, folks... we were hit with some severe denial-of-service attacks today, which made the site difficult to reach for many people. The new server is pretty robust, but it's not immune to tens of thousands of simultaneous requests from multiple servers... so if the site was not viewable, we apologize for the inconvenience. In coming weeks, we'll be adding a mirror and additional redundancy to reduce the likelihood of downtime. In the meantime, we'll do our best to stay one step ahead of the people that are causing problems for us.
Sure you are doing your best. Keep up the good hard work. Did experience some problems even shortly after reading the DoS message. Regards, Opherus
Money. Bogus universities are very profitable. So when Degreeinfo dismisses a fake university, spurious accreditor or whatever it is, then to the extent that this group has any influence, somebody's cash-flow is endangered. I think that it's a sign that Degreeinfo is doing good.
It's the curse of we profound thinkers to miss the obvious. It's also foolish for scammers to waste themselves on revenge.
The last time somebody tried this, it resulted in lots of publicity for us and a significant increase in both traffic and visibility... too early to tell yet whether the pattern will repeat itself, but it certainly makes for good material for press releases
I seem to remember something about lemons and making lemonade Many thanks and keep up the good work. Jack
Hi Chip: Many thanks. Keep up the good work. All of New Carpathia (which isn't much, admittedly) salutes you. I can get through to degreeinfo usually on a 4th or 5th attempt, but must sign off and redial (sic) my ISP each time in order to do so. I figured it was sabotage from the outside, but had no idea how. Aux barricades, mes enfants!
Try logging in from Estonia, for crying out loud. I get in about every 5th try over the last few days clint
