Nothing against Charter Oak at all with my post here, but I had some thoughts on where I wanted to get my actual degrees.

Take a look at this plan, and let me know what you think.

    1) Transfer 50-60 credits from University of Delaware to Charter Oak.
    2) CLEP, Dantes and, ECE test my way and earn a General Degree, Business from COSC.
    3) Next, Look for a high profile name University. My company will pay for $5,000 tuition reimbursement a year. I was going to lay out a 10K, 2 year plan and gain a second degree, perhaps in Computer Science.

So in the end, I'd have a General Business degree from Charter Oak and a more well known "name brand" BS in computer Science. NC State is just down the road from me.

    Ok, now to my question:

When it comes to transferring to NC State or some other high profile and somewhat expensive university, is Charter Oak good enough for them to accept all my credits or the degree equivalent itself and just let me concentrate on nothing more than the computer science courses?

If not, I could transfer all my Test credits from Charter, then the traditional credit from UofD separately.

    Thoughts?

    Thanks!

Your idea has merit and would likely work. Each university has its own rules as far as accepting degrees and transfering credit. In general most schools will req 30 semester credits fulfilling the second major requirements. I would grab a catalog from a school you might like the CS degree from and check the section on second degrees.

Most universities require you to have transcripts sent directly from each institution you've attended. It's not a question of whether a particular school (Charter Oak) is "good enough"; it's just standard procedure.

If you have one Bachelor's degree (from Charter Oak) and you apply to do a second one (at NC State), then the second university's rules for a second Bachelor's degree will apply. You need to ask NC State what their rules for a second Bachelor's degree are.

Also ask NC State about doing a Master's in CompSci. It might be not much more work than a second Bacherlor's, and you might get financial assistance (a research assistantship from a professor).

Also consider doing your Bachelor's in CompSci (say, by submitting certifications to Excelsior), followed by an MBA somewhere else.

When you speak of the acceptance of the degree (Charter Oak to NC State) there is not really a problem. My wife finished her degree with Charter Oak and had no problem getting accepted to ECU or NC's Dept. of Public Instrution to finish her teaching license. However, when you talk about individual credits for a degree program, there may be a problem because each school is different and some schools may not accept all of your GER (General Education Requirement) classes.
