Argosy's University of Sarasota will be initiating a Psy.D program with specialization in Clinical Psychology that will enable participants to complete a number of courses online. Although students will be required to complete specific coursework requirements in Florida, they can fulfill a significant amount of the degree requirements from where they reside.

I believe this is the first regionally accredited Psy.D program that has been offered in this mode of delivery and offers an attractive alternative to those who may be adverse to the heavier research orientation of the Ph.D in Psychology.

Argosy will be announcing the details of this undertaking in the near future.

    Simon,

Last I check the Tampa campus was not APA approved. Do you have new info on this?

Actually, The University of Sarasota just became APA accredited over month or two ago, and so is the Tampa campus.

    Simon,

Thanks for the info. I'm glad that the Tampa campus finally obtained APA accreditation. I know some of their other schools did previously. I would be most interested to see what they end up putting online for their program. Though I finally decided not to go the APA route (am getting the Doc in Family Psychology at Capella), nevertheless, I can steer some of my friends to Argosy if they want a Florida program without leaving Miami for most of their experience. I think Argosy is breaking new ground here. If they pull it off, they will be the second APA distance school. Then Capella will probably be eventually the third.

For me, if I ever decide on Psychologist licensure (not interested now) I can always do a respecialization certificate in Clinical Psych.

Once you find out that the program is official, please let us know with some link to see.
