How much does a year of tutition cost for an Australian PhD program, part-time and full-time? Also, does anyone have any opinions of Deakin University?
My memory tells me that this varies from school to school. Also, I believe that there are some schools that add on a fee if you are not an Australian citizen. When you take into consideration that you may have to travel to Australia once per year, or perhaps only to defend your dissertation at the end of your program, then it's possible that the actual price range is rather large, starting at "what a great deal" and going all the way up to "I might as well have gotten a US degree." In short, I don't think there's a single answer to your question. Jack
As an example, a quick look at Charles Stuart found that fess (not including books, etc.) where A$12,500 - A$14,500 (US$8,200 - US$9,500) depending on the program. And may require at least one round trip est: $2,500 air fare plus living. Which gives an estimated minimum cost US$10,700 plus books, etc. Note fess were given for program with a 3 year minimum. It did not brak them out by year or credit. Charles Stuiart Schedule of Fess Conversion doing using XE.com
Double check your costings ... you may well find that this is the 2003 fee component only. CQU is $12,500 a year with a minimum of 3 years for internationals. We get it free so someone has to pay
Your calculations for Sturt are about right. The exchange rate is not as good this year 65 cents on the dollar versus 55 cents last year but overall very cheap compared to most other programs. As a student in the program and having taken a trip down last summer, all costs stated are about right. BAH
