"Paul Meyering: [...] The Arlington High School senior will receive his diploma June 13, two weeks after being awarded an associate of science degree from New York-based Excelsior College [...]. Representatives from the college's admissions office believe Meyering is the first student who has received his degree entirely by examinations before graduating from high school."

Is there any law that restricts this, or is it the Judgement of the univerisity to allow High School Students to Enroll into excelsior? (I hope for the latter, for my son's sake, who is just starting this process with excelsior and is still in High School!)

I enrolled with Regents at age 16 as a homeschooler with no high school diploma; by the time I would have been legally eligible to take my state GED (at age 17; God forbid somebody should actually graduate early in Mississippi), I was about halfway through the bachelor's and saw no point. I doubt Regents/Excelsior puts homeschoolers in a special category, so I have to assume that traditional high schoolers can also finish up early at Regents without any special dispensation.

    Cheers,
