Greetings! I am brand new to this site, but I have really enjoyed perusing the various threads. I am scouting out MBA programs, preferably with emphasis in e-commerce, international management, or info systems. I have already eliminated two programs from consideration and added one back to the list based on all this good stuff! Two DL programs I am still considering are from Kellar Grad School of Management and the University of Maryland University College. I haven't found much in the threads on these. Anyone had experience with these programs? What is the general reputation for each? In addition to program quality, etc., etc. I am also keenly interested in alumni associations/networks. Any opinions on the DL schools with the best alumni nets? Later! Eric
Eric- What schools have you eliminated? Touro offers an MBA with the three concentrations you are looking for. You can do a search and get some good infomation about this school. In addition, at least two members on the board have gotton their MBA from Touro. Good luck on your search.
Welcome Eric! I think you'll find many threads here on the University of Maryland University College program. Mostly about how the UMUC program is not the U of Md's Robert H. Smith School of Business. However, I think the University of Maryland name would be a benefit. Of these two, I would go with UMUC. I looked at Keller Graduate School of Management's on-site evening classes several years ago. They are a no-name school like so many others out there. I suspect that most people haven't heard of them and won't feel one way or another about it when they see it on your resume. Those who have heard of Keller won't be impressed. They were bought by DeVry several years ago and I don't think they will ever earn much of a reputation. (At least, not a positive one.) Unless it really excites you, I wouldn't choose Keller. Since "9Chris" mentioned Touro University International, I have to say that I have been very pleased with the school. If you haven't already, take a look for yourself.
I think UMUC has a decent MBA program. They are also launching a DM program which I don't see on their website. So presumably it's not yet "live."
You can find information about UMUC's Doctor of Management program here: http://www.umuc.edu/grad/dm/ However, according to the FAQ's on their website you cannot complete all classes through distance learning. "Although DM candidates may do a few courses via distance education, the DM cannot be completed via distance education. Most of the doctoral program courses have either weekly or periodic meetings in Adelphi, Maryland. Moreover, students should expect to spend at least one half day per month on campus during business hours to interact with faculty and other university resources."
