Hey yall I have already done a search on the above item and I haven't found a lot. I have been studying a college biology textbook and various study guides to prepare me for this test. I am a good test taker but up until recently I had no scientific knowledge. If anyone has taken the test please post some helpful study material. I am planning on taking the test in the middle of June. Thanks in advance for the help. Justin

I passed the test using stuff from istudysmart.com , but in reality while some of it helped, I did alot of stuff that was good to learn but didn't help with the exam. If you have read and used the clep study guide and mapped your study to those areas I think you will be fine. I got a B, and have kicked myself ever since about not making it happen myself.

Another thing - I have found that people might post links or recommend books, but unlike many IT forums don't post actual materials. Good luck on the test!

There is a huge amount of study materials on the net for introductory biology.

MIT has an introductory biology hypertextbook online, although it deals mostly with the molecular biology side. http://web.mit.edu/esgbio/www/7001main.html
An introductory biology course is also included in their "open courseware' project

There is a guide on pinkmonkey.com (along with a whole bunch of guides for other subjects)

http://www.emc.maricopa.edu/faculty/farabee/BIOBK/BioBookTOC.html is another online textbook for intro biology. It goes more into plant and animal physiology, which the MIT book does not.

There is a guide for the CLEP biology test at freeuniv.com

Thanks for the response I just checked out a movie on DNA. Guess I will pop up some popcorn and watch chromosomes for 2 hours. I found the Free Univ site and I was trying to find a more streamlined approach than studying everything that is listed on that sight for the biology. I have been reading and studying for 4 weeks and I have came a long way. I have mapped out the needed categories and have studied accordingly. I will keep yall posted I should take it the middle of June.

I took this CLEP about a year ago. I first did the sample test from the Official Guide to see which areas I was weak in. I then read the REA guide for those specific areas and scored a 60 for an easy six credits. If you're planning on enrolling in Excelsior, you only need a 50 to pass. They're currently not awarding letter grades for this exam as per this website.

    Good luck,
    Mayer

    I passed!!!!!!!!!

I cannot believe it but I passed. I have been studying for two months. After I finished the test I felt like my teeth had gotten kicked in. When I hit the score button it showed a 57. That is good for 8 credit hours. I watched the Standard Deviants Biology Video two times. I studied a college textbook along the lines of what CLEP recommends. I bought a Biology study guide off of EBay. I read the AP Cliffnotes for Biology. I felt really good about the cell stuff and DNA but a lot of stuff on the test I had never seen nor studied. There were enough of the questions with tables and experiments to help the score out. If anyone has any questions lemme know. Good luck.
