Deakin wins University of the Year again

Deakin University is a joint winner of the prestigious University of the Year Award for 1999-2000.

Deakin is the only university to be awarded this honour on more than one occasion. Deakin was named University of the Year in 1995-1996. The focus of the award this year is Outstanding Education and Training Partnerships. In 1995-1996 the focus was on Outstanding Technology in Education.

Deakin received this award primarily because of its partnerships with government, business, professional organisations and the trade union movement. Deakin Australia's role as the private arm of Deakin University, in the development of these partnerships is significant. Key to our success is flexibility and innovation.

Deakin continues to be innovative in education, training and development. We are the only university acting as a private provider offering programs from entry-level vocational training to higher-level postgraduate programs.

The 1999-2000 University of the Year award follows our success in April last year when the Federal Minister for Employment, Education and Training, Dr David Kemp, launched the Coles Institute - Australia's first virtual corporate institute.
