I would like to know more about the acceptance of degrees from DETC schools in graduate schools for M.A/M.S degrees thank you
I don't know much about this subject but you may need to say more in order to get a good answer. Which degrees from which DETC schools being accepted at which (?RA?DETC?) graduate programs? Otherwise, all you may get is, "Some DETC degrees are accepted at some RA schools." My guess is that this wouldn't be very helpful for you. In any case, good luck. Jack
DETC degrees in particular BS of ACCIS in to RA Masters. I want to make a Masters in Philosphy from the International Catholic University/Holy Apostles College & Seminary http://icu.catholicity.com i have already earned near 100 credits at college (Computer Science degree) and i have been working on the IT field for some years... things are going well at job and i dont really need the degree, but since the master of philosophy offered by ICU is very interesting for me, i need a bachelors in order to enroll and the only good option i have seen around is the ACCIS (but i was wondering if my degree would be accepted)if anybody knows a good RA option i could take to finish the degree soon and spending around the same amount i would do in ACCIS please let me know Thank you
Why don't you just ask ICU very succinctly and send it to their admissions/Registrar... "I plan on getting my BS degree in CS from ACCIS.edu that is DETC accredited. Will this BS degree from ACCIS satisfy the undergraduate degree qualification/requirement for your MA in Phil ? " If they say no, rinse and repeat for other schools you are interested in. You will probably hear back from them on the same day.

In my survey of admimssions officers and registrars, findings presented at their national convention two years ago, I learned that roughly 20% of regionally accredited schools will accept a DETC-accredited school regularly, and another 20% sometimes.
Dr. Bear: I would like to know if your data illustrates a categorization of degree fields. For instance, I would think that physics or chemical engineering might have a lower level of acceptability than business, education, theology, or social sciences. Then again, the data may be skewed by respondents being northeastern liberal arts traditionalist universities reluctant to accept anything outside of RA. Anyway, it would be useful to get a picture of the component parts that make up your summary percentages. Thanks. ...I believe DETC estimates 50% acceptability without being specific.
I have to agree with what has been said. Directly ask ICU/Holy Apostles if they will consider a DETC accredited degree for admission. I would let them know that DETC is a nationally recognized agency by US DoE/CHEA. There have been some schools that will *consider* nationally accredited degrees (Capella U, Liberty U, one of the Ok State Universities). Good luck. North
