a credit card? In the days when we were waiting for our "Green Cards" (permanent resident status in the US), one of the reasons we were impatient for the Green Cards was so that my wife Rosie could take out a student loan. But by the time we did get our Green Cards, credit card interest rates had fallen so low that we never bothered.
Re: a credit card? ------------------------------- Credit card interests rates will NEVER get lower than the interest of the average student loan?
Re: Re: a credit card? Really? Do student loans have promos like 0% APR for a year? Also, those of us pursuing a degree non-traditionally tend to incur non-traditional expenses. Hopping on a plane to take a credit-by-challenge exam in another state, applying to multiple schools to see who will accept your credits, ordering PBS and Discovery Channel videos, are all legitimate educational expenses -- but do you really want to go through the hassle of explaining them to a loan officer?
You may want to do a lifestyle adjusment or change, I am doing the same, because I was doing the numbers and by cutting some things here and there that you don't really need, I was able to come with a budget to pay for the courses, so I took option number three. It will be cheaper this way is not any interest and is flexible to make payments, this way. Of course it takes dicipline to do it this way. Hope it helps, Vini
