Saw this on a thread for UNISA students/interested parties. Basically the writer said that BC does not accept any distance education courses in education. Can anyone here explain the reasons behind this if true?

I don't know why BC does not recognize UNISA DL degrees. I approached the Ministry of Colleges, Universities and Training to see if UNISA's DL programs have any credibility in Ontario. Apparently they do.

The decision to accept UNISA DL degrees seems to vary from province to province. On the flip side of the coin, BC does seem recognize DL degrees from California Coast University and Ontario does not.

I'm sorry, but it's not entirely clear to me what you're trying to say here. Are you saying that there is not a single college or university in British Columbia that will accept credits earned at UNISA? Are you saying that education credits earned at UNISA do not qualify a person for a teaching credential in British Columbia? Please clarify.

Since Michael Esselen ([email protected]) is actually in BC, he should be able to provide the scoop on this.

I read the message on his UniversityofSouthAfrica-Canada MSN board. The message didn't give any details. If I find out anything else I'll pass it on.
