There was some discussion a few months back about taught M.A.s in History being available through distance. No one could think of one at the time. Has this changed since then? I am looking for a taught/coursework M.A. in History (one of the courses should be a graduate-level histiography course). I know about the self-crafted degrees, but I'm wondering if anyone has come up with an actual history degree lately.

    Thanks

It's still a rare commodity. I can't speak to "taught" and "histiography" but the subject index to the 14th ed. of Bears' Guide lists nonresident Master's in history only at American Military U, Cal State Dominguez Hills, plus a dozen or more in Australia (e.g., Southern Queensland), the UK (e.g, U of Wales) and the U of South Africa.

Maybe I should have said I was looking for a somewhat 'traditional' coursework M.A. in History - 30 hrs. of coursework and 6 hours of Thesis. Does CSU-DH have an actual M.A. in History, or are you describing their Humanities program?

Before I get in trouble.. 'traditional' as it relates to most programs here in the U.S.

I don't mind if the degree isn't from the U.S., but I don't have a B.A. in History so I would need to develop methodology etc. etc.

Do you happen to know which University of Wales campus is offering an M.A. in History through coursework?

I can't find one (through coursework) at USQ, Murdoch, or any other Australian university although there are several that offer M.A. in History through research or in some interdisciplinary form. The Open University of the UK seems to have a perfect program but it isn't open to me as I am an American (or at least living in the U.S.). DETC accreditation isn't quite going to cut it for me. Is there a mail forwarding service I can use to fudge my location? ;-)

    Any other ideas?

Macquarie University in Sydney, Australia seems to have one. (none of the concentrations are what I'm looking for, but this is much closer than anything I have found)
