Graduate Certificate Good Morning, Thanks for the interesting posting. There is a graduate certificate program that looks very interesting. Have a good week. Hille
Around here Worcester Polytech has long had the reputation (perhaps undeservedly) of being MIT's "little brother." It's good to see them getting a bit of positive press. Jack
Hey you Mass guys! Don't put down WPI! It's a good engineering school. The school has an international reputation for the interdisciplinary study of fire: its physics and chemistry, exotic sorts of fires, innovative firefighting techniques, mathematical fire models, fire-resistant structural design and so on. They offer Ph.D.s in this stuff. (This is where all those guys who ride around on red trucks go to graduate school.) The Center for Fire Safety Studies: http://www.wpi.edu/Academics/Depts/Fire/ It seems that WPI offers DL programs in the study of fire. You can earn certificates or a totally non-resident MS in Firesafety Engineering. http://www.wpi.edu/Academics/ADLN/Programs/Fire/ WPI also offers DL graduate degrees in management, in wireless communications and in environmental engineering. http://www.wpi.edu/Academics/ADLN/Programs/
Don't worry about me Bill, I think it's a pretty good school. However, if the question was asked, "Can you name a science/engineering school in Massachusetts?" I believe that most people would say MIT, not WPI. It is a school that has grown up in the shadow of MIT and always suffers by comparison. If WPI was transplanted to a different location then I'd guess it's rep would be better as it would stand on its own merits without always being compared to the all-star brother 50 miles to the east. Jack
WPI is a great school, I was just highlighting the fact that they are in the unfortunate situation of "competing" with MIT (which, of course, they can't). Bruce
Worcester Polytechnic is a great school. Until recently, I hadn't even heard of them. If anyone is interested, I recently reviewed their online program on my blog: Review of Worcester Polytechnic Institute's Top-Rated Programs. CollegeBlogger
