Hey, I would like to know if anyone has any new information on Golden State School of Theology's attempt to become acredited through DETC. Thanks Don
When I spoke with the President of Golden State School of Theology, Dr. Paul F. Graves, a few weeks ago, he told me that GSST would not be applying until June of this year. According to him, the school had to institute some changes before applying. He did not elaborate on what these changes entailed. He did, however, acknowledge that GSST would have to stop offering doctoral degrees and that anyone currently enrolled in a doctoral program would have to be “fast-tracked” or transferred to another institution. It is interesting to note that there had been reports that GSST was advertising to prospective students that ACCS would accept their courses for transfer credit. GSST was allegedly promoting the fact that up to half of an ACCS doctorate could be undertaken at GSST, thereby yielding significant savings on tuition. I have not checked with ACCS if this is a matter of policy, but if it is, could this be a matter of concern to TRACS?
GSST did not have an arrangement where ACCS would accept half of the credits toward a D.Min. They had an arrangement whereby ACCS would automatically accept a GSST graduate into oen of their higher degree programs. For instance, a graduate with a Bachelor's from GSST would automatically be accepted into an ACCS Master's program, and a GSST M.Div. would automatically get you accepted into the ACCS D.Min. program. Someone once posted that this arrangement came to an end when TRACS received CHEA recognition due to CHEA regs. Don't know whether that is accurate or not. North
