Hey all...just cleaning out my inbox, and noticed I got this last week from Capella, and I don't remember it being posted here (had a link in it which probably won't come through--it landed me here (http://www.capella.edu/reborn/html/schools/education/ed_admin_list.aspx):

    Dear Anthony,

We are pleased to announce state approval of Capella University's K-12 Educational Leadership specialization in Minnesota. The specialization was approved by the Minnesota Board of School Administrators on April 2, 2003.

Capella University is the first online university to receive approval to endorse K-12 principals and superintendents for licensure in Minnesota and the only online university in the nation to achieve both regional accreditation and state approval. Approval from the Minnesota Board is meaningful; their standards are among the highest in the nation and their examination process is rigorous.

For those of you living in states outside of Minnesota, this approval should make principal and superintendent licensure in your state more accessible upon completion of the program.

Coursework in the educational leadership master's, post-master's certificate, and doctoral programs is completed online. Students conduct field work and complete a 320-hour on-site internship. In the courserooms, you will work with faculty who bring a combination of theoretical expertise and real-world experience.

Rosine McGhee, a graduate of our program and the principal of Mountain Elementary School in Los Alamos, New Mexico, told us that it truly prepared her for her position. "Learners love Capella because of its scholar/practitioner approach. The program is not purely theoretical-there is a very practical component that requires students to apply what they've learned," McGhee said.

Please call an enrollment counselor today for more information. NUMBER DELETED.

    Sincerely,

    Jim Wold, PhD
    Executive Director
    School of Education
    Capella University

    This is good news.

If Capella keeps this pace, they will gather even more respect outside of the world of distance learning.
