A PhD dissertation successfully submitted to the department of New Testament Studies at Potchefstroom University (through arrangement with Greenwich School of Theology) has been accepted for publication. The Book of Revelation in Christological Focus by Dan Lioy will be released by Peter Lang--a highly reputable academic publishing group--in the summer of 2003. The book will be volume 58 in the Studies in Biblical Literature series (ISBN: 0820467944).

The description on the back of the book is as follows:

"By making use of a grammatical-historical form of exegesis, Dan Lioy conducts a thoroughgoing textual analysis of Revelation with special attention given to the connection between its Christocentric themes and its doctrinal rationale. The result is a comprehensive study that is informed by the Old Testament, the New Testament, and extrabiblical material. Appropriate for personal study as well as a college and seminary text, this book provides an insightful, engaging, and scholarly treatment of the Apocalypse."

    Congratulations to Dr. Lioy!

That is good news for Lioy & PUCHE. Isn't Dr. Lioy one of the folks with a Trinity (Indiana doctorate) and former faculty at Greenwich in Norfolk. Apparently, he decided he needed the accredited doctorate. PUCHE is a very reputable school.

Is he a friend? How are your studies going?

Some time back this one advertised in the ETS newsletter for a teaching position. He mentioned his degree (ThM) from DTS and his soon to be doc from Puche. He did not mention his doc from Trinity...hmmm, why not if TTS affords such world wide recognition?

Once or twice he and I got into it on the Trinity forum (before I was banned) re TTS's utility. When I countered his points by observing that he did not, given the supposed TTS utility, list TTS as a qualification in the ETS newsletter, he suggested we talk privately and not openly on that forum.

Contrary to North statement, on that forum this one attributed his success in entering Puche to his TTS degree as he did no thesis at Dallas..he said!. [A research doc, as Puche may require evidence of research skills acquired by doing a master's thesis]

Rick Walston's PUCHE dissertation is given some negative commentary by some on DegreeInfo.

Dan Lioy's PUCHE dissertation is given rave reviews.

The neat thing is that both dissertations were approved by the faculty of theology as meeting PUCHE requirements.

Congratulations to both Walston & Lioy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
