How much does UOP pay their instructors to teach their DL courses?

Soon, I will be eligible to be an instructor. :)

Unless I pursue a doctorate, which will take another three to four more years of being holed up in my house.

Not really, before you apply as an instructor, at least that is what they said in their application in their web, Your Master have to be two years old. But I wonder is they can bend the rules!

At the University of Phoenix you must have an MBA two years old. I have talked to them.

I went to their website and there is an 800 number. They will send you their application package, it is pretty in depth of both program and applicant information.

I called today, and the person I spoke to last year is no longer with them, so anybody in the HR department will work.

    Good Luck!

Oh yeaa, I'm certain that they will bend the rules for someone with extraordinary experience in the field that is going to be taught. Very few people have my qualifications. People with my level of qualifications are difficult to find. ;)

    Yes, they do!!!

It seems like most of the education world is opened for those who know someone, or know someone who knows someone - I am trying to get in locally at the Community College, but I am not "connected" - it is sad.

Yes, it seems to be that way in my area as well. There seems to be a small circle of connected people who are holding hands in my community. They all know each other through various means - and when it comes time to fill a position, it helps to have friends who are connected. It certainly doesn't hurt!!!

Now that I've been "in the business" for a while, I keep inadvertantly making those kinds of contacts. I'm not doing it intentionally - it is "just happening" in the natural course of things. :)

So, uhhh, nobody knows how much UOP pays its instructors?

Since their tuition is really high, then their salaries must be commensurately high, right?

Not really, since they are for profit, I am sure that the will want to maintain their cost of operations as low as possible to be able to have higher return in their investment. And they managed to only have adjuct faculty, which in this format a lot of the benenfits and high salaries that comes with permanent faculty comes are cut. I would said they are flat fee for adjunt faculty so this way they can control their variable cost.

    undergrad- $800-if you have masters
$1000- if you have a doctorate
    Grad $1000-if you have masters
$1200- if you have a doctorate

unless you have 2 years after your qualifying degree. they will not take you.....regardless of experience.

So they pay the instructor LESS then what ONE of the students pays in tuition. As they use to say, "there ought to be a LAW!"

Yeah, I know....that pesky supply and demand thing keeps getting in the way.

Since the UOP alledgedly won't hire me until I've been out of graduate skool for at least two years, I'll be forced to pursue doctoral studies for two more years. :p

Why would you want to teach for a school that you've said bad things about in the past???

I think your pay scale is a few years old.... The pay is commensurate with your current classification "A,B or C" with "A" being the bottom of the scale. Also Graduate level courses pay more than undergraduate since they are 6 weeks in duration vs the 5 weeks for undergrad. Anyone holding a Ph.D. will only see a differential when they are teaching Graduate level courses. In addition there is a list of "Premium" courses that pay an additional $200 over the normal rate for all instructors.

I suppose the administration is not getting the number of successful applicants they expected since they downgraded the shelf life of the Masters degree from 5 years to 2 years.

Shelf life holds firm in the assessment process. I have sat on assessment boards and we have turned away candidates who did not meet the time requirement. And that was regardless of other stellar qualifications.

For all who may inquire further ... I am not going to post the pay scale.

As soon as I have officially been awarded a Masters degree, I'll be happy to expound on that question. :)
