Stay away from them.. It is one of the worst degree mill you can ever imagine.. In fact the founder of this fine AWU had very bad history...

Try a search on "Maxine Asher" on this board you will get the information you need..

    Thanks

    Thanks for your responses.

The purpose of eliciting your generous comments is to include them in my report to the relevant authority.(under the American perspective on the AWU).If my research outcome is correct,it shall be defined as a diploma mill.BTW,they are producing the sheepskin in quite large scale in China now.I invite you to join the chorus of condemnation against these despicable bad apples...

    further comments are appreciated.:D :D :D

Hats off to you, Comrade Bearcub.

God forbid those gullible Chinese folks should have to think for themselves. No telling what they might do--run with scissors in their hands, cut the tags off mattresses, establish a democratic government--frightening.

Next time you're watching pirated American videos check out "Cool Hand Luke." Pay particular attention to the part where Paul Newman says, "Them poor old bosses need all the help they can get."

That's not good news. Unfortunately, China is filled with people who value education, have money to spend, but who still have difficulty differentiating real universities from the scams and frauds. That means that lots of people will try to prey on you.

I'd recommend studying this US government website that discusses our educational system.

    http://www.ed.gov/NLE/USNEI/

Here's the page concerned with acceditation.

    http://www.ed.gov/NLE/USNEI/us/accreditation.html

When considering an American school, in all but a few special cases, a Chinese student should only choose a school that's accredited by an agency that's recognized by the US Department of Education. Degreeinfo argues about the others a lot (the "state-approved" schools and the like), but I'd suggest that they be avoided unless the student knows precisely what he or she is doing. Its too easy to make a bad mistake.

I realize that there are a lot of accreditors and that it might be confusing. Actually, it's easier than it seems.

There are six regional accreditors. (You will find links to them on the accreditation page above.) These accredit entire universities. Each one covers a particular region in the United States, with no overlap. That means that each state has just one of the regional accreditors overseeing it. If a Chinese student chooses a university with regional accreditation, he or she will be essentially guaranteed that the school is legitimate and widely recognized.

There are also many specialized accreditors. These accredit particular programs within a larger university. They specialize in a particular field or area of study. Usually universities have both regional accreditation for the entire university, and specialized acceditation for certain departments. These specialized accreditations are often very important for licensing in the United States, but may be less important in China. But if a Chinese student picks a program with specialized accreditation as well as regional accreditation, it is additional evidence that the school is solid in that particular field. This is definitely a good thing.

OK, about American World University: Its president is Maxine Asher. It claims to be accredited by something called WAUC. Well, guess what? Maxine Asher is also the president of WAUC. She's essentially accrediting herself. Not very reassuring.

Needless to say, the United States Department of Education doesn't recognize WAUC.

Actually, Maxine Asher is an interesting person. Besides running questionable universities and accrediting associations, she practices archaeology by telepathy, and reportedly claims to have discovered Atlantis by ESP.

Here's a website describing her and some of her books, and it features a picture showing her deep in psychic communion with a rock:

My employer recognized my MBA from AWU.

I worked hard for it and did all the assignments and thesis.

I submitted all my works and granted approval.

I'm interested; who is your employer? What is the name of the company? What industry is it? Any information you could give that would not compromise your identity or your job would be appreciated. There is nothing to disprove your claim that your degree was recognized by your employer and I'm not surprised because some employers just don't know or care.

In this case, however, since AWU claims accreditation from the World Association of Universities and Colleges, an organization that is also run by Maxine Asher, the founder of AWU, it becomes obvious that it is nothing more than a degree mill. I notice that they offer degrees based on life experience and that pretty much seals the verdict.
