What course(s) are you guys taking next session? I'm currently taking MGT503, Adv Entrepreneurship (what a PITA), but next session I need to take a core course that does NOT have an SLP.

Does such a creature exist? If I'm reading the course descriptions correctly, it does. If I'm interpreting correctly, the following core courses DO NOT have an SLP: BUS508, BUS509, ETH501, ITM501,
and MGT599 (Capstone), which I can't even take until everything else is done.

There is a reason I need to avoid the SLP courses during the upcoming summer session. I will be studying for a promotion (USAF) during this same period. To me, courses that include SLPs are kinda like double the work and I don't need that right now...I need the lightest courseload possible this summer. However "stopping out" or skipping a session is NOT an option at this point.

    Any suggestions?

    In a word ... NO ...

ALL of the TUI courses, BA/BS, MBA, and Ph.D.
do have some form of SLP requirements.

CONGRATS on your pending promotion, and I
suggest that you continue on with your previous
academic plan as to your MBA program. No one
said it would ever be easy, and it won't be ...

    B-)

The other thought, is to contact the prof of whatever
course you do take, explain the situation you are in,
and then work with him/her as to the time frame for
you to complete the SLP piece if that concerns you.

The SLPs are not 'double work', more of an opportunity
for the student to really demonstrate the "HOW" of
understanding and applying the key points of the module.

So there is much value for the SLP requirement ...

    SLP

I have already completed BUS508, BUS509, ETH501, ITM501 besides other courses... I am not sure about MGT599 but others do have SLP requirements. For each course 5 Case and 5 SLP...

You should not drop the courses rather sign up for only one and talk to the relavent professor and/or the GA... I am sure they can help you to allocate flexible submission time as per your schedule.

I have one more semester to go for my MBA.... and trust me getting an MBA from TUI is not easy... according to my degree plan I am suppose to submit 50 cases and 50 SLPs... I am working at least 60 hours each week ....

Let me know if you need any help!

Okay. I stand corrected. It's just that some course descriptions go out of the way to mention the SLP while others make no mention whatsoever. That's where I got the idea from to begin with. :(

    ITM501

I just finished the last paper for MGT599 today. :) All of the classes had SLP’s. I would suggest taking a class such as ITM501. If you have some knowledge of Information Technology, it is not extremely time consuming. For some of the SLP’s in this class, I was able to use items such as reports and spreadsheets that I needed to complete for work.

    Re: ITM501

I am one of the graduate assistants for ITM 501. It is not a difficult course. You will write a paper about Microsoft (monopoly or good business?), a memorandum, an executive summary, a couple of spreadsheets, a paper about the advantages and disadvantages of e-commerce, a paper about how you plan to bring the Internet to your country as rapidly as possible, and a couple of papers about your favorite e-commerce website.

HOWEVER, I've been told that the course may be due for an update soon...I'll check again with Dr. Gold and post his answer.

Just got an answer (wow, that was quick!). The overall feel of the course remains the same, but a few of the assignments are different for the next term. This is a good thing since this course has been the same for about two years. They are updating all of the courses.
