    Hi All,

Any information anyone can provide is greatly appreciated.

    What I know:

    1. The website is http://www.ashworthcollege.com not .edu.

    2. When I called them specifically about accounting, they wouldn't give me any information without my information.

    4. According to the website they are nationally accredited, and recognized by Dantes (I checked the Dantes website and it is true)

The reason I am asking for help is that a young mother at work, without much money asked me to look into this school. It sounds somewhat fishy to me, but would welcome your input.

My initial comment to her was to go the Big Three route, but any other comments would be appreciated.

    Thanks,

The school is legit, I took a bookkeeping course with them as refresher course. It was good. The problem that I found was that to contact them, it is hard to get a live person to answer your question. The website do offer the full catalog to download in acrobat reader. My opinion is that if degree meet her current and future needs it may work. If this person is planing to studying beyond the AA or AS, it is wise to go to the local community colllege. It best to get that first degree in the traditional way.

They are very flexible in payments and time for completion, they require proctored exam, I find this requirement to be good.

    Best of luck!

I forgot to mention, that when I completed the program they sent me a desk calculator, the one with printer.

I am currently attending Ashworth in their criminal justice program. I am really angry because they confused my semester final with someone else. I was informed that I failed the Business Communications course and was required to retest. I did and was told that I also failed the retest. That said, I was going to be academically discharged from the program. I was shocked because I was carrying a 4.0 average.

I just received an e-mail from the school today stating that they errored in my score and that I did pass the first test. I took a retest apparently for nothing.

This is very troubling to me. I think it shows that the school is very careless. I have emailed the school repeadtedly for study help and never got a response.

I am having second thoughts about this school. Wonder if others are experiencinmg the same problems....

When I took a course with them I have difficulty in getting to them, However it was not for questions, since I never had the need for it. Now in every school some student may experience something out of the ordinary.

Like my self, at UOP I had the clerck of financial aid return my student loans, and had one professor that openly smoked in the classroom. In another University they keep the money of my students loans for years money which I never used since I dropped they program.

The lendor keep posting the balance as I used, I personally went and ask for an investigation, until I finally was clear. Now if this continue send them a letter via certified mail that you will contact DECT their accreditor, for the inconsitency, hopefully you will get a reaction to this. But mistakes do happen,. Hope this help.

Another question are you able to take the exam online, or the exam that you took was on paper? Online should keep a record of it if you pass it since I think the machine will give the score after taking it.

    DEFINITELY look into http://www.educationdirect.com

They have a strong accounting or bookkeeping program. I understand, from others who've posted here, that they make you earn the degree (or certificate). I've called them three or four times to talk directly with instructors--the accounting and Spanish courses--and I had NO problem whatseover.

Oh, and they are not expensive. Very, very affordable. Do check them out!

p.s. do a search on this site for "Education Direct." You'll find nothing but good things about them here. Oh, and they are DETC: nationally accredited.

I agree with you they are pretty good, the only thing I dont like from them is the Diploma, which Use big print in the word diploma, and one I got when I took the PC repair course it looks so fake, the seal was computer printed. I have my daugther sign with the art course, she is doing well only 14 years. They made me sign a waiver that this will not affect her high school classes.
