Hey!.....I know how to play music on my DVD. Does that qualify me for a degree at SRU?:p

I'm sure this must be intended as a reference to the great American composer, Aaron Copeland.

    Copland

They don't know how to spell "Copland"?

In his orchestral suite Appalachian Spring, Copland uses the Shaker hymn tune "Simple Gifts" (better known now to some people in the form of Sydney Carter's adaptation, "Lord of the Dance", the non-Celtic tune on which Michael Flatley based his Celtic dance extravaganza).

An American airline ran a TV ad that used the tune "Simple Gifts" to symbolize America. A cousin of mine, who had been exposed mostly to classical music, saw the ad, and was really upset, because he thought Copland had composed the tune and they were ripping him off.

What a bunch of old fogies! The school is obviously named for Stewart Copeland. :D

    Re: Copland

    Let's be charitable.

The rock group Led Zeppelin was named because someone (either Keith Moon or John Entwistle; it's disputed) jokingly predicted that it would go down like a lead balloon. But they used "Led" rather than "Lead" to assist pronunciation.

So perhaps they changed "Copland" to "Copeland" to assist pronunciation. They wouldn't want to sound like a police set-up, after all.

I think it is all coming together. Sure a lot of accredited degrees out there.

Do we know how Copeland's degrees are accredited?

Address is shown as: Monrovia, Liberia 106117

I thought Paulie protested too much for someone stuck with a worthless degree for which he paid $ 1,000.

Tell me he didn't pay $50,000 for an accreditation for Copeland.

Thanks for the plug! You people are my best source of advertising! I
get repeated e-mails from people who have seen you slam me and want to
enroll because, as they say, "If those *%$#$ say it's bad, it's got to
be good." My enrollments have doubled since you people crawled out
from under your rock. :) Thanks!

I'm so confused. Their website says they quit accepting "applicants" in April and have ceased operations. Mr Israel's correspondent says (inter alia) that enrollments have doubled.

And I still don't know who Copeland is.

This is new. At the time Paulie posted the "enrollments have doubled" message to Usenet yesterday, the Website gave no hint that the conservatory was closing.

Despite the "stopped enrolling applicants in early April" that we see there now, we may have just shamed Paulie into shutting down his school.

One link indicates they are closing and the other does not. Who knows?

And I still don't know who Copeland is.

This is from the Copeland Conservatory of Music FAQ Web page. (which is still up)

    • Does Copeland guarantee that I will receive a degree?

As of 4 May 2003, 66% of our applicants have demonstrated the skills or qualifications that meet the requirements for their desired degree.
    and
    • How long will the evaluation process take?

You should receive your results in 48 hours. The typical qualified applicant would have their degree delivered to them in less than 30 days. However, graduates may use their degree title immediately upon receiving notification from the Conservatory that payment has been received.

And this is from their Our Students Web page.

    • Dear Students,

As many of you know, CCM had stopped enrolling applicants in early April. We have now officially ceased operations.

The staff of CCM wishes to thank you for your kind support and friendship over the past few months.

Our only regret is that no one had made it to graduation.

      Good luck to you all!

So in these many months, with 66% of applicants qualifying and it only taking 48 hours for approval, not a single individual made it to graduation? I wonder why.

It now appears that it is possible Paulie was being truthful when he stated that enrollment had recently doubled, as two times zero is indeed zero. :D

I don't understand Paulie. Why would someone with a worthless degree put up such a fight for no good reason?

Was he waiting for everyone to say yes Paulie, you are right? Remain anonymous and almost everyone will leave you alone. Agressively challenge those who question you and you ask for a fight that you will never win.

I wonder why his music school, that didn't actually teach music, closed. I wonder if some guys in cheap suits from Austin didn't ask to see his license to operate a school? The website gave a Houston location.

He wonders why he was banned here. First commandment - Thou shall not shill for a degree mill.
