    I need some advice please!
    I am currently attending an accredited local University for a BS in Business Admin with a CS option 180 ¼ hours. The University also owns a small unaccredited technical school. I graduated from the technical school years ago with an Associate degree in computer science and started attending their accredited University. They accepted many of my associate degree credits from the technical school as electives.
    Here is the breakdown. The schools both work on ¼ hours.

    They accepted in ¼ hours .
    * 56 hours General Electives
    * 4 hours Natural Science/ Mathematics
    * Information Processing CSC104

    I have taken the following classes at their accredited University.
    * Concepts of Accounting
    * Principles of Accounting I
    * Principles of Accounting II
    * Business Law
    * Principles of Management
    * Introduction to Statistics
    * Microcomputer applications for Business
    * Business Ethics
    * Composition I
    * Composition II (Currently attending)

    I have passed CLEP for the following
    * Introduction to Marketing
    * Microeconomics
    * Macroeconomics
    * Introduction to Sociology

    The accredited University I attend says that I need the following to complete my degree.
    * Financial Management
    * College Algebra
    * International Business
    * Organizational Behavior
    * Quantitative Methods
    * Business Policy
    * 300-400 level Management or Marketing Elective
    * Introduction to System Analysis
    * Data Research and Analysis
    * Sr. Seminar in Information Tech
    * 300-400 level Computer Science Elective
    * Business Writing
    * Public Speaking
    * Humanities Elective

    They are pretty liberal about accepting outside credits as long as they are accredited. So I was thinking that I could test out of 8 of them between CLEP, DANTES, ESE but that leaves 7 I would need to take on their campus. I am currently taking 1 class a ¼ with my current work load that’s about all the evening time I have for classes. I do have time during the day to study of CLEP, DATES, ESE test. Taking 1 class a ¼ puts me out 2 years on my degree. So that brings me to my questions.
    Is their a quicker way to a BS without loosening what I have already? With Charter Oak, Thomas Edison, etc. I know I can plug a lot of what I currently have into a degree at Charter Oak but would that require me to take a ton of new test/classes?
    Or should I continue on my current course?
    Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    :confused:

    I had a similar situation and had very little time to study for CLEP and DANTES. I used audiobooks from the major rental companies:
    1. www.booksontape.com
    2. www.recordedbooks.com
    3. www.blackstoneaudio.com.
    They allowed me to listen to the required texts while I commuted to work and while I drove on the job. I found this was especially helpful when studying for history examinations. I passed the DANTES History of the Soviet Union and Vietnam war tests and the CLEP Western Civilization exam in this manner.
    The CLEP Analyzing and Interpreting Literature is also a quick 6 semester hours credit.

    ...Of course you could transfer all your credits to Excelsior College. They have an IT B.S. degree http://www1.excelsior.edu/itweb/itcts01.html

    Possibly some of those credits you lost in the transfer from the technical school will be accepted by Excelsior. Excelsior, Thomas Edison and Charter Oak are often the most flexible options. Excelsior was best in my case, but all three are very popular.

    "They have an IT B.S. degree"

    Yes, I have considered this because I also have a MCSE 2000, CNE 5, CCAD, and A+ that can be transfered in. But would all that get me closer to my BS or would I need to take more classes? Do you think that Charter Oak, Excelsior, or Thomas Edison would take my credits from the Tech school?

    Thanks

    I would call or email Excelsior. The link below is to the Excelsior contact page for the IT program:

    They have a very liberal transfer policy. It's likely that if the technical school has regional accreditation, and all the classes were college level (not developmental or prepatory) they will transfer.

    Unfortunately the Associate degree was only accredited by the State education board for technical schools and not Regionally Accredited. The University I attend now owns the school so they feel obligated to accept the degree as electives.

    Thanks

    You should check out crown college. http://www.crowncollege.edu

    They are nationally accredited, not regionally accredited, and they just recently added a BS in Business Administration. The program requires that you have an Associate's degree or a comparable number of credits, and you can complete the program in 14 months. There is no residency.

    It might be worth checking out. Good luck!
