I need your opinion regarding the following schools:

    UOP
    Touro University International
    Thomas Edison College

I am interested in obtaining my Bachelor's Degree via online. I have already spoken with a rep at UOP, but before I make the commitment, I would like to hear the opinons of others. Thanking you in advance for your responses....

Hello, If you decide to go with TESC I will be glad to give you some suggestions. Was there a specific reason you narrowed your decision to these three.? I would also suggest you look at Lawrie Millers page and see if testing through your degree might be an option. Hille

The consensus about Phoenix? Overpriced, but meets the needs of those who thrive on short calendars of classes.

Touro--not overpriced; Some say it doesn't get enough respect and people appear to really like the online learning courses.

TESC--overpriced if your not a NJ resident or don't have your study funded or subsidized. Otherwise, nothing to complain about! Their moderated discussion forum is available to non-students--why don't you post a query there?

I have taken two courses at a UoP campus. One class was great and one was horrible. I can not speak for the online classes.

I as completing my first class with TUI and I really enjoyed it. I spoke to several people who have taken the UoP online classes and they sound similiar to the TUI class. The only difference appears to be the "Group project" that is required for UoP and not for TUI.

I don't have any experience with TESC. I contacted them early on and they never seemed very easy to deal with.

I had to choose between UoP and TUI for my masters degree and I picked TUI.

    Good luck

    It depends ...

    Hi ...

I have ZERO experience with UoP, tho I was, am, and will remain less than impressed with some of their advertising methods ... being a for-profit also makes me wonder, bottom line ... what's more important, academic education ... or the bottom line.

    OK, there's my 2 cyber-cents as to UoP ...

Now ... as to TESC or TUI ... It just depends.

Disclaimer up front. My AA & BA are from TESC and my MBA, and Ph.D studies are from/at TUI.

I am also a Graduate Assistant for 2 undergrad courses at Touro presently ... so ...

If you have some amount of previous RA college level experience, say a few hours here, and a few hours from there, then TESC may be the place for you. TESC has more options and ways to achieve your BA/BS than most other schools, and offers many different academic fields.

If you plan to use CLEP, DANTE, and other forms of challenge exams as a major portion of your academic plan, then TESC would probably allow you much more freedom without limits on testing.

If you are starting from scratch, interested in the academic majors that TUI offers, and are looking for a program that is on-line, RA, and very student focused, then TUI may suit you and your needs better.

TUI is much more student friendly that TESC was ... the brunt of the planning/etc. is on the student with TESC, and that's not really a bad deal. You are an adult learner, you really need to know where you are going, and how you plan to get there. TESC is very upfront in expecting you to be in the driver's seat as what they do best is help you to put all the pieces together in some form or fashion.

In TESC's defense ... there are so MANY different ways to complete your academic goals there, the burden has to be on the individual student to pick and chose for themselves their academic path.

Touro is more of a local university setting, but on-line. From being a GA now for the 4th session, and being constantly evaluated for how I support the students ... I will say that TUI is a totally different environment than when I was completing my AA/BA work via TESC.

Touro has set academic plans for their undergrad programs, and this is typical of a B & M setting. If that is the structure you are looking for, but via an on-line experience, then give TUI a closer review if it matches up with your expectations there.

If you want to be more independent as to the design and method of completing your degree program, then consider TESC.

The good part of your short list is that all three schools are RA, and you won't have to do like another poster <RJT> does on here ... constantly try to grasp at straws to defend degrees which are not RA. Be wise now, and avoid problems later ...

There's many other things you need to weigh out there for you and your goals ... Time, Costs, Field of Study, Format of Instruction, etc. For each of those YOU must decide what is best for you.

Today, you have more RA options that ever before. Review the ones that seem best suited for you, and choose wisely.

    Hope this helps!

    Billy

University of Phoenix? Regardless of how good their education may be, do you really want an employer to look at your CV and think "Oh yeah, that's the oufit that's been spamming me"? Please read the thread UoP Irks Other Schools with Ads.
