The Stratford Career Institute now has a Funeral Service Education program by distance learning. http://www.scitraining.com/default.htm Now, I'm assuming that this program is for those prospective students who want to "assist" in a mortuary. I doubt that any state licensing board would consider this program as a requisite for a funeral director's license. The Gupton-Jones School of Mortuary Science (Atlanta, GA)requires its students to attend classes on a full time basis. The college also requires each student to embalm 25 bodies and assist a local funeral home in the directing of 10 funerals. All funeral service students are requried to attend the college for four years. I honestly doubt that any funeral home or funeral service corporation in the U.S. would take the Stratford program seriously.
