    Almeda College

I got an email from CareerBuilder.com today which contained an advertisement for fast degrees from an Almeda College & University. Thinking that CareerBuilder would only accept reputable advertisers, I went to check it out.

Imagine my shock when (insert sarcasm here) Almeda touted accreditation by the prestigious Association for Online Academic Excellence.

You would really think that a legitimate job search businesses would care about the quality of the degrees they advertise. Surely they are aware of the fact that few employers would ever accept an AOAEX degree.

Almeda College & University is a complete joke!!!!!!!!!

I (for sh*ts & giggles), submitted all my credentials for a Bachelors Degree......

It came back that I was awarded a Bachelors, Masters & PH.D!!!!!!!!!!

    * Plus, they were offering a two for one special!
The Bachelors & Masters for the price of one.

    BUT WAIT.........There was More!!!!!!!!!!!

If I purchased the two.............I would get 40% off on the PH.D!

    But wait...........there was more!!!!!!!!!

I f i recommeded one of my friends or family members to Almeda, they would refund an additional 15% back to me as their special!!!!!!!!!

    WHOOOOOOHO!!!!!!!!

And you find this unusual :D Check out the two for one sale at Harvard Discount.

Sounds like the old Lasalle of Louisiana. I asked for information and was admitted. Did not attend.

The competition between Almeda and SRU has picked up in recent months. Both schools (if you want to call them schools) have been offering discounts on dual MA/PhD programs. Neither of these schools are regionally accredited. They are accredited by the Liberian government which has little or no recognition in the U.S.
CAVEAT EMPTOR - let the buyer beware! Using one of these degrees in your resume could lead to your dismissal and/or criminal charges.

For those of you who like mathematical equations here is one that will bring light to this thread:

    Formula (1)
    (Almeda + no tests + no books + no assignments)/unaccredited =
loss of job + no future + criminal record

    Formula (2)
(Regionally Accredited College + exams + assignments + classes) = legitimate degree

Which formula do you think is correct?

When this fraud popped onto the internet a year and a half ago, it sported an entire page describing its affiliation with RA National University in California. Shortly after NU was apprised of that claim, the page, along with all references to NU, disappeared.

Almeda originally listed a Connecticut mailing address (in a strip mall, iirc), which also disappeared. This faux-school is now apparently operated from Florida and appears to have a connection to at least one of the two guys who operate Trinity C&U.

I see Almeda has a new website up and running. Part of it displays some interesting testimonials from students.

    Almeda

I have been informed by one of those who provided one of the testimonials used on Almeda's new website, that all Almeda alumini were invited to provide info as to what value their Almeda degree had been and that no money whatsoever was provided to those whose testimonial was selected for publication on the website.;)
