    Hi all,

I hope this isn't a redundant message. And if so, I apologize for it.

I'm interested in a BA in Computer Science or Liberal Arts at either COSC or TESC. I don't have any college credit. I've read millions of books, taken personal development seminars, & have some IT certifications. I think I could cover some of my humanities with the things I've done. But,
I'd like to have a general idea of what I need to take before I enroll. That way I can get started on the classes I know I need to take immediately, & test out of others, without waiting for the evaluation & perhaps wasting a few months of the enrollment (money). I'm looking for a way to use the time that I am enrolled wisely. So, does anyone know a way I can have a portfolio evaluation, and then enroll after I know what's left to take? Or some other way I can create a map, then get started?

    Thanks,
    Mark

You said that you have read many books, perhaps CLEP exams would be the place to start. You can earn either 3 or 6 credits per test (depending on the exam). Here is the link to the CLEP website-
    http://www.collegeboard.com/student/testing/clep/about.html

You also said that you have several IT certs. Several schools will offer credits for Microsoft and CompTIA exams.

Goto COSC's website and they will list the CLEP or DANTES exams that will fill certain catagories. Take those tests first. Start with the exams you feel most corfortable with.

I passed 15 exams in 6 weeks to complete my COSC degree. I looked at the military passing rates and started with the exams with the highest passing rates that I knew something about. As long as they fit into the COSC plan, they worked for me.

    Good luck.

    Excellent advice.

Followup this, Mark, with a trip to Lawrie Miller's web site.

    www.geocities.com/ba_in_4_weeks/mainmenu.html

(Or click "Links" at the top of the page, find the link there!)

Continue matching testing opps with your experience, interest, and preparation--mindful of eventual degree granting institutional targets--and you're on your way!

    CLEP, DANTES, AND EXCELSIOR EXAMS

If you like to read, the examination for credit options are a fast way to earn credit that will easily transfer to a university. Excelsior, Thomas Edison and Charter Oak have no residency requirement and accept nearly all the exams.

Thanks everyone for the feedback. Someone also mentioned the FEMA exams are an easy 18 credits.
