Can a home-schooler get into Harvard?

    She could get into Harvard but apparently she'll never get into UMass. There's just got to be a way to blame Billy Bulger for this. ;)

    Interesting article, but the premise is a little odd; homeschoolers have been accepted at Harvard since the 1980s, so this isn't really a test case.

    Well if not Harvard College there's always the Harvard Extension School :)

    Quite true. The first Colfax child made it into Harvard in 1983 and was followed within a few years by two equally homeschooled siblings.

    The Colfax parents eventually wrote "Homeschooling for Excellence." It was a big deal when it happened then, but isn't really one now.

    Many homeschooled children are accepted into prestigious universities all the time now. In the appendix of the book that I just finished, I list many, many of these schools.

    Shouldn't "home-schooler" in the subject line be "home-schoolee"?

    That's probably better. But I took "home-schooler" out of the article.
