I will complete by MBA from CalCoast and just started my MS-ITM from TUI. After I complete my MS-ITM, I am trying to decide what to do. I spoke to a school that is accredited by “Accrediting Council for Independent Colleges & Schools (ACICS). ACICS has been designated as a nationally-recognized accrediting agency by the United States Secretary of Education” and they said they would accept some, up to 24, of my CalCoast MBA credits toward their MBA program; than I could earn an accredited MBA.

Here is the real question- Would there be a benefit in earning an accredited MBA to replace the CalCoast MBA if I plan to complete the PhD in Business program from TUI?

I really don’t have a clear career plan for my education, I just know that I am receiving tuition assistance, I have the time to dedicate to education, and I enjoy learning so I think I would be foolish not to continue my education in some way.

I don't want to name the accredited school at this time since I do not have anything in writing.

This is strictly my opinion, but you should not look at these things in an absolute sense, but in context. Do you need, given your other educational activities, an accredited MBA? And if you do, will one from a school accredited by ACICS do?

If not, then you're doing this for yourself, and can decide on that basis. If you're trying to accomplish some professional goal, then do it.

Some people would put in the extra time, money, and effort to earn an accredited MBA. Others would not. Still others would say earning one from an ACICS-accredited school may not be all that big of a deal.

If you want an MBA, go get one. If you do not--or if your CCU MBA will suffice, then don't.

If the ACICS school requires only 30 credits and they'll accept 24 in transfer, my first instinct would be "why not", as it would require only 6 more credits. If it involved a more substantial investment of time and money, I wouldn't bother.

The school requires 56 credits so I would need to take 8 classes at $1,000 per class. It would take me 2 years to complete if I wanted it for free. My compnay pays $4,000 per year for tuition assistance.

Eight grand for an MBA from an ACICS-accredited school, and that's after getting so much transfer credit? I'd pass. You could do an entire MBA with a regionally accredited school for less.

If your goal is to get a PhD in ITM, your MSc in ITM should suffice. If you want a PhD in general business, it is most likely that your M.Sc in ITM would be enough and perhaps some extra credits.

I believe that the PhD in business from Touro is in general business, so you would probably be asked to complete some extra credits. I don't see a point to do an MBA if you have already one M.Sc in ITM from TUI and a MBA from CCU.

I don't see the point in replacing a non-RA degree with another non-RA degree. You would be spending alot of money and time to take a 1/2 step up.
