Does anyone know about endorsements for teachers available via DL? I know about Western Govenors but what about any others?

Because each state seems to use its own language, I'd like to clarify. Is an "endorsement" a teaching credential/certificate/license in your state or is it something else entirely?

One thing that you will want to find out now is which states have reciprocity with your state. If states have reciprocity agreements, this should enable teaching credentials earned outside the state to still be valid. However, education, being what it is, this is decided at the state level and not the federal level. You'd think that a credential from any state should transfer, but this is not the case.

When I refer to endorsements, I refer to add on certification to teach another subject area. For example, my wife is certified to teach High School History, but she would like to get an endorsement to teach math as well.

Ah, I see. My state calls those "supplementary authorization." Here all you have to do is take a specific number of units within that other subject area and then apply to the state. As long as you already have a teaching credential (hence the "supplementary"), that's all it takes.

Do you believe that she needs to take more than just more math courses to qualify for an endorsement. Perhaps math pedagogy courses?

This is one of those areas where you will definitely want to chat with the folks at your state licensing office for teachers. They're the final authority on what exactly you will need for your state.

Additional certification "add on" usually requires several courses in the new area. (12-18 hours). This of course is different for each state. I have seen several DL options for this for special education but I have not seen math or science. Most of the ones for Math or Science are full Masters programs that gives you license in that area. I would find every school that offers a DL masters in that area and contact each one of them. If they are not advertising a DL endorsement now, it may be something they are working on.
