Just like to know which board members are past or present Touro students. Would love for this thread to evolve into a sort of "sub-forum". Could wind up being more informative than a Touro "search".

So, when did you graduate, what's your major, what course(s) are you currently enrolled in, who's your professor or GA, ect.?

Note: I know some board members have a low opinion of Touro and other schools. Let's not let someone hijack this thread and turn it into one of those "Touro is a 4th tier school because..." threads. They can do that elsewhere on this board.

So, let me get it started.

Enrolled in MBA program, concentration in General Management.
Previous course(s): BUS 401-Int'l Bus; Professor- Dr. Watkins; GA-
Mel Hagan. Current course: MGT503- Adv Entrepreneurship; Professor- Dr. Watkins; GA-Lisa Stinzano.

So far, I have learned a great deal and found the work challenging. Somewhat concerned about lack of interaction with GA in course I'm currently taking. Previous GA laid out clear guidelines, but have not heard from current GA and we're already a week into the course. Since I recieved my course materials 2 weeks before the course officially started, I am somewhat ahead as far as my research goes.

Will keep you all posted. Please do the same and visit this thread often.

    Thanks,
    4Q

    Hey!

Graduated with MBA, dual concentrations in healthcare management/information technology management, in May 2002.

Very possibly enrolling in PhD in Educational Leadership next term. :)

Still stateside, praying for our troops that have been deployed...

...present BS student at TUI. I am studying Computer Science and I am on my fourth semester now and I am taking three courses each semester now and so the load is pretty heavy. I should complete my degree at the end of this year. My professors have been Dr. Russell C. Kick and Dr. P. Watkins (and J.D Eveland in economics) and they have been helpful in assisting me with any problems that I have had. I have had various GA's, some very helpful and always commenting and some that said nothing and weren't as helpful.

The programming courses have been pretty stiff and I have taken them very seriously but I have had a lot of programming experience previously which has helped me with the courses. The biggest thing lacking is more low level computer stuff and math related subjects. I am however planning to take these courses outside TUI anyways once I finish my degree. TUI has been very good and the courses are getting more difficult each semester and I am having to spend a lot of time studying to be able to keep up and maintain a good grade. That being said I believe TUI needs some fixing and the post-course evaluation form that students need to fill out is best place to voice my opinion about the school and the courses.

    My current courses are:
    CSC317 Database Systems II
    CSC324 Web engineering & Programming I
CSC405 Web engineering & Programming II

I finished these courses in the previous three semester:
CSC321 Object Oriented Programming: Java and C++ (C#)
    CSC316 Database Systems I
CSC315 The Mind of a Computer Scientist: Python Programming
CSC112 Program Design and Introduction to Programming
    CSC211 Contemporary Computing Environments
    ECO202 Macroeconomics
    ECO201 Microeconomics

    Touro Ph.D.

I am currently a Ph.D. student at Touro in the Business Administration program. This term I am taking BUS 606-Effective University Teaching this term with Dr. Herbert. I also took two courses last term with Dr. Gold and Dr. Watkins. I feel all the Professors and GA’s have been excellent with superior support.

I just enrolled in the MS-ITM Program. I am taking my first class-

BUS508 - Fundamentals of Business for Managers:
Prof: Dr Gregory D Herbert, GA: Steven Schweichler

I submitted my first assignment a week ago and I have not had any feedback yet. The staff have been extremely helpful so far.

In future sessions I will take 2 classes per session and complete my MS in the summer of 2004.

I am not a Touro student but I am thinking about enrolling in the MBA program in December. Can someone please describe a typical class.

How it is structured. What a typical assignment is How long do you have to turn in an assignment, and what interaction do you have with other students?

    Thanks.

    Hey Chris,

I think any Touro student can answer your questions. But the answers you're looking for are on Touro's website. Why not get it straight from the horse's mouth? But please let us know if you still don't find what you need there.

    Touro MBA

    Here is the basic "skinny":
Each course is divided into six modules - students have two weeks to complete each module.

Each module consists of a Case Assignment (usually in the 5-page range: some more, some less) and a Threaded Discussion allowing you to interact with other classmates about the subject matter at your convenience.

A Session Long Project runs throughout the course (from module to module) and usually allows significant flexibility. Most modules post a 1-2 page directive for the Session Long Project (some more, some less).

Doing two courses a semester is manageable even if you have three children and work 40+ hours a week. Ask me how I know... :) The best advice is to not get behind in your reading, since independent reading assignments are the way to be exposed to the curriculum. Since I elected to complete dual concentrations, I was forced to take three classes for two of my semesters. That was a little more difficult.

I would plan for two hours a night in reading/research. Once you've produced a few papers you will learn the best schedule for your situation.

There are many Touro students here who can help you along the way. Don't hesitate to ask questions!

Why are all of Touro's undergrad classes 4 credit hours each? I would love to hear a good explanation for this???

I can only offer a theory. Perhaps it is because Touro's courses are 12 weeks long instead of the 8-10 week duration of a typical 3 credit hour course.

    4Q out.

I am thrilled to see your post. As an EMT-I with lots of "other" healthcare experience, I have been seriously considering Touro's programs. I am currently completing BA in Business Admin through another online school and will probably complete my Masters through Touro. Thanks to all for sharing your input about your experiences.

    Howdy!

As you can see below, I completed my MBA-ITM in March 2002. I enrolled the PhD program immediately. So far I've completed BUS 600, 601, 603, 606, MGT 601, and ITM 601. This term, I'm taking BUS 605 with Dr. Shackman and BUS 610 with Dr. Flaschner.

Dr. Gold - best with students, ethics, management
Dr. F - excellent at marketing and research
Dr. Eveland - excellent at research

Overall I've had a very positive experience at TUI.
