I got an email from EBS. What does the following mean? Does it mean that they are now accredited in US?


"Edinburgh Business School Granted Registration Number by US Dept of Education
The U.S. Department of Education (DOE) has confirmed that Edinburgh Business School has been granted a registration number. While the US Dept. of Education does not accredit educational institutions and/or programs, the Secretary of Education is required by law to publish a list of nationally recognized accrediting agencies that the Secretary determines to be reliable authorities as to the quality of education or training provided by the institutions of higher education and the higher education programs they accredit. The recognition process involves not only filing an application with the U. S. Department of Education but also review by the National Advisory Committee on Institutional Quality and Integrity, which makes a recommendation to the Secretary regarding recognition.

We hope this information is useful in answering questions on accreditation posed by your Human Resource Department. We will send you another email to include our new number and update you on the potential benefits for US students."

 

US DoE number

The short answer is 'Yes'. US citizens may qualify for Stafford Loans. The application process is being assembled, starting with a meeting between myself and the University administration on Wednesday coming. The DoE registration number applies to all of the University courses as well as EBS courses (MBA and DBA).

We have not made an anouncement yet until everything is put in place and we fully understand the administration requirements.
