I contacted ACSI and asked them since they were mentioned concerning the Christian Ed certification. Below was their response:

    Kevin,

Thank you for your letter of inquiry regarding Vision Bible College and its accreditation status. Let me show you a portion of the letter that we send to recognized schools:

    • Recognition by ACSI is not a form of college accreditation. (ACSI does not accredit postsecondary institutions.)

    • Students from recognized colleges are eligible to hold an ACSI Interim credential while they validate their course work and/or degree in an accredited college program.

    • An Interim certificate is valid for two years and is not renewable. A prescribed list of accredited course work is required for Interim certificate holders to be eligible for a Temporary (Basic) or Standard ACSI regular certificate.

    • For fulfillment of ACSI certification requirements, course work in professional and/or general studies must be taken at accredited institutions (refer to the book Accredited Institutions of Postsecondary Education, Washington, DC: American Council on Education).

    • Colleges may not advertise any type of ACSI approval for their program, courses, or degrees, beyond what is stated in this letter.

Neither Vision Bible or Vision International are accredited by any organization that is recognized by the U.S. Dept. of Education. We accept their Bible courses but their education courses are not accepted by ACSI certification.

If you have any further questions do not hesitate to contact ACSI. We are here to assist you.

    Sincerely,

    Bob Hodges, Certification Supervisor

    Russell,

I checked the ACSI website. It seems they recognize a lot of unaccredited schools. The difference being the Interim and non-renewable certificate verses the "Basic" renewable certificate that an accredited college is able to receive. Since one must go and get their certificate validated at an accredited institution why even waste your time going to the unaccredited school in the first place? It just doesn't seem to make much sense to me.

    Take care!
