Good Morning, In reviewing information about Mountain State I found they have 28 examinations that can be taken with an approved procter. These carry a letter grade. I don't have a scanner but the list includes Biology(4) tests, Communications (3) tests , Criminal Justice (1),Sonography (4), Environmental Studies(1), Math (4), Nursing (2), Phil.(1), Secretarial Studies (6). This is definitely worth a look for someone who is in the undergraduate stage of their studies. Hille ( not an employee of Mountain State)
Greetings. My copy of the Bears' Guide does not mention any Mountain State, hence it cannot exist. Sorry. It would be interesting, however, if you could supply the exact name a web link to this instituition you imagined. (There are at least two Mountain State schools.) Also, if you could supply a link to a page describing their credit-by-exam pgrm, that would be swell too. Cordially, Richard Kanarek

Months ago, I attempted to contact Mountain State with regards to Challenge Exams. They sounded promising. Emailed the individual on the web site. Was directed to another individual. That email got zero response. I found other places to get my credits. Who wants to do business with an organization that does not provide meaningful info on web site or respond to email.
I've had a great experience with MSU in WV! The distance advisor has been extremely friendly and helpful with answering all my questions and I'm just waiting to get started on my courses soon. They are very much a real and accredited university for distance learning.
Greetings. MSU's web site does not give details on their "Challenge Exams". Furthermore, they direct you to email someone who, as it turns out, isn't involved with the exams. <g> In order to save everyone a bit of trouble -- and what has everyone done for me lately? -- I thought I'd post the final result of my enquires. It turns out that MSU offers very few "Challenge Exams"; 20, to be precise. Presumably, these exams are available via distance, but, even though I made it absolutely clear that I lived no where near the college when I made my queries, it would be naive to take their availability for granted. Hi RKanarek Mountain State University does exist. I have been taking courses with them and so far I am very happy. They are regionally accredited by NCA, however they are for the most part a B&M university. They are more into distance learning.
Mountain State University Yes it does exist. It is in the Bears Guide. Remember, Mountain State University is the new name for what was once The College of West Virginia in Beckley. Good Day
