Hi all. I have not been a regular "reader" since 2/01, but I received by BSBA from TESC in 7/01 and I now want to pursue an MBA (because now I work for a company that will pay for it). I have read John Bear's MBA book, and have narrowed my list down to two: Colorado State University and the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs. Both RA, Both AACSB, both approximately same price $400-450/credit hour (my company will pay $10,000/year, so I will probably have to pay only a minimal amount out of pocket), both 36 hours, CSU has no business prerequisites, UCCS has some but it appears that I qualify with previous coursework. It appears that CSU is more prestigious.(?) But...I don't know. I need to decide fairly quickly, because I need to apply soon for the fall. Does anyone have any experience with either of these? Maybe I am missing something. Are there any other AACSB schools I should consider with the same cost and reputation? Thanks in advance for your help. Gene P.S. I have said it before, but I owe Steve Levicoff much for his advice posted on AED, this forum, his website and the TESC yahoo page. I was able to successfully challenge 45 credits towards my TESC degree.
If you haven't made a decision yet, perhaps you should check out Jonnie's page of MBA programs. A warning - the many choices may delay your decision. As far as prestige, have you looked at Indiana University's MBA. I believe it only has two short residencies (one week). Good luck...and check out the link. Tony
With those two choices, it isn't apples & oranges. It isn't even apples and apples. It's which of those two Delicious apples to choose. It is conceivable that one might taste the tiniest bit better than the other, but you'll never know. But if you stand there in indecision, they'll both grow mushy with time. Don't check out Jonnie's site. Don't check out Indiana. Toss a coin, if you need a scientific selection method. You can't go wrong, whichever. My best advice.
Both are excellent choices, but I'll add a bit of snobbery here. In my experience, a school listed as "The University of _______" carries far more clout than "_______ State University". Just my opinion. Bruce
Re: Re: AACSB Online MBA I wouldn't disagree, with the following possible exceptions: Ohio State Colorado State Florida State Kansas State Washington State Oklahoma State Michigan Sate Arizona State etc.
Re: Re: Re: AACSB Online MBA University of xxx is more prestigious than xxx State for xxx = Washington and xxx = Michigan. I'm not sure about the rest.
What about Dallas Baptist University? AASCB and the director of the program personally called me. More discussion based program (CSU and UCCS both have proctored exams) and it seems more personal service. Thanks for your thoughts and advice. Gene
Personally, I would solve the problem by answering this question: "Which one has a better football team?"
