I am curious to find any regionally accredited Master's degree program (in any field of study), where the total cost of program is about $9,000 or less and there is no examinations or tests requirement. I would appreciate if someone would point out a program or two for me to look at. Thanks in advance.

Hi Krazymack! What do you mean by "no tests"? If you mean no proctored tests that require you to go to a designated campus then you have a shot at finding one. Many places allow for tests to be done online, proctored by someone you know, by phone, or by submission via mail. I don't know of any school that doesn't require at least some form of testing.

There are a few UK and Australian Universities that offer MA and MPhil degrees that are research based with no exams or course work. You will need to write a 40,000 word thesis to the satisfaction of your committee in order to receive the degree. You will need to do some research to find a school that offers these degrees in your field of study. Most of the MA-MPhil programs will cost you anywhere between $5 - 19 thousand (UNISA is the least expensive).:D

Try looking at California State University Dominguez Hills external humanities M.A. I believe there is only one exam, which is given after completing sixteen units, and can be proctored. I know there is no campus visit required. There are several members of this forum who have completed this program, you might check with them.

I don't know about $9k or less but Touro should meet your other criteria.

  7. One of your choices, as plumbdog10 mentioned, is the California State Dominguiz Hills MA in Humanities.

You'll find info at their web site:

    http://www.csudh.edu/hux/

You can actually review details of all of the courses there.

I have just completed my thesis, which is now being read by my committee.

The entire program is quite enjoyable. You should like to write, as the work involves lots of reading and submission of papers.

There was one short test, but if my reading of the latest letter from the HUX coordinator is correct, that requirement has been eliminated. (Come to think of it, there is one _other_ test in writing proficiency, which you can take at a local eductional institution.)

Anyhow, I highly recommend it. Let me know if I can address any questions.
