I note that a new link has been added to the opening page of degreeinfo.com... Featured Schools. I have a few questions.

    1. Is the American Graduate School of Management accredited in the US?
    2. Does AGSM have an autonomous website? Everything I find seems to be connected to Lansbridge.
    3. Does Lansbridge own AGSM or is the reverse true perhaps?

    off specific topic:

    4. Why are all the featured schools, with the exception of UOL, rolling through a strangely structured URL? Is this for "click accounting" purposes?
    5. The page explains that all of the schools listed are individually screened by the degreeinfo.com staff. May I ask who that staff is and what are their qualifications for doing this sort of screening? Is this John Bear and other academics?

    Thanks,
    John

I believe Lansbridge was founded as Unexus about 5 years ago. Its degree granting authority comes the Province of New Brunswick, although I think it was started by an Ontario group.

Two realities exist in Canada. The first is that universities are almost totally the domain of provincially operated schools. A few small schools are run by churches.

The second reality is that in job starved Atlantic Canada, a promise to provide a few real jobs will find a receptive audience.

I haven't looked it up recently, but Lansbridge is one of the more expensive schools and least recognized. So why bother?

Not a member. I don't know if it has ever applied, but the scrutiny it may receive from a group of provincially and church run schools, as a for-profit school, may be excessive. Got to protect the turf.

I know of the Canadian University College, a Seventh Day Adventist school, in Alberta, that is not a member. It has been affiliated with Loma Linda University and has good respect. There are probably other legitimate schools that are not members.

Canadian provinces have shown that they take education seriously and provincial authorization has always been akin to accreditation and I see no reason to believe anything else in this case. There is no other accreditation in Canada.

Just a blurb from the Association of Universities and Colleges of Canada website.

Will my degree be recognized in other countries?

A degree from a Canadian university is recognized around the world and is usually equivalent to an American degree or a degree from another Commonwealth country. Professional and specialized programs such as medicine, nursing and engineering are accredited by reliable and reputable agencies. Current and new academic programs are regularly reviewed by provincial, institutional or regional bodies to ensure quality standards. Canada does not have an institutional accreditation process similar to that found in the U.S. The closest equivalent to accreditation is the appropriate provincial charter coupled with membership in the Association of Universities and Colleges of Canada. AUCC members offer academic programs of the highest quality, with a reputation that extends far beyond our borders.
