Does Excelsior include the date that you take an exam on their transcripts? If so, does taking a whole bunch of exams at the same time look bad to a grad school?

Just speculating here but I can't imagine that they wouldn't like seeing you take multiple exams on the same day (assuming you do well). If anything I'd assume it would be a sign of great intelligence if you took a lot of tests on the same day and got a high grade on all of them.

Yes (or at least they do on my transcript for my BS earned in 1992)

How specific are the dates, Ian?

My wife did the "Credit Review" option at Excelsior (at a point when she had only courses, no challenge exams), and Excelsior gave her a "Student Status Report". In the Report, each course date consists of a year followed by "/FA" (= "fall") or "/SP" (= "spring"). Strangely, "/SP" is used for both spring and summer courses (although summer courses were certainly distinguished in the transcripts that Excelsior received!).

Also, although Excelsior claims to have made decisions based on the course description, the Report shows no evidence that they looked at anything more than the course titles in the transcripts they received. Every abbreviation in every course title in the transcripts they received is mimicked exactly!

My EC transcript has a column for "term", but it actually lists the month in which the transcripts were received by EC. All my credits are test-based. The transcript lists 5 subjects in 02/01, 5 in 02/02, 7 in 02/03, 2 in 02/04 (I actually tested for the last subject in 02/04, but some credits probably were reviewed in 02/05) and 9 credits in 02/05.
So there is no date, if you take a bunch of tests in a single week, they will probaby appear with just the month they were accepted by EC.
I only showed the transcripts to two prospective employers, and they did not give any indication that they were concerned about the dates of the subjects, nor about the fact that I enrolled in 03/15/02 and the degree was conferred in 08/16/02 and I did not list any other college or university in my applications.

    Re: Re: Excelsior Transcript Question

My transcript (from Regents College) lists my CLEP exam as follows:
Title: # Eng Composition with essay (575) (06/91)
    Grade: P
    Humanities credits: 3

I assume the (575) is my clep score.

All the other courses listed on my Regents Transcript mirror those on the originating college transcripts. I did need to provide course decriptions and other catalog information on a few courses for them to be accpted by Regents as upper division.
