  1. Not so long ego when my wife applied for teaching position at
LAUSD - Los Angeles Unified School District she was told that
her Russian degree would need evaluation.
And that they work with only one exprt evaluation service when
the degree is from former Soviet Union or Russia.

I was reading the guide and even didn't see the agency as non NACES and would like to know why, because they look to me as a
    legitimate and recognized.

The service name is: Foreign Consultants, Inc.

    http://www.foreignconsultants.com/default.asp

This is from their web site:

We are the voting members of world known National & International Educational associations:

    > AACRAO- American Association of Collegiate Registrars and Admission Officers
    NAFSA-National Association of Foreign Educators
CIES (Comparative and International Education Society)
ASHE- Association for the Study of Higher Education
EAIE- European association of International Educators
The Evaluation of Foreign Credentials executed by FCI follows the placement recommendations approved by the National Council on Evaluation of Foreign Credentials (CEC).

The Council is the only interassociational body in the US specifically created to review, modify, and approve placement recommendations written for publications used by US admission community. >

    Please

    Any comments or opinion?

    Regards

The credentials sound reassuring, and if LAUSD accepts it, that would seem to be all you know.

It might be interesting to ask why they are not members of NACES.

And, of course, I'd love to know what these people think of the International University for Fundamentalist Studies.

  3. I called their office in Chicago.

As far as NACES the person I talked to didn't know why they are not members and asked for more info about NACES.

I emailed to NACES and they sent me email asking for more detailed contact information about FCI, so I emailed additional info to NACES.

As far as IUFS the answer was that they will write that the
degree is equivalent to a degree from US University that is not
regionally accredited. They will write that it licensed in Russia to provide education, professional and higher supplemental.
And if IUFS show accreditation from RF MOE.
Then it will be equivalent to US RA.
Depends on student graduation date. If diploma issued before accreditation than in their view its unaccredited. Depends on how mach time pass.

  4. Little more info

Their retention of records is only for 3 years.

In 1997 someone broke in and stole all their Computers.
So they had an issue with records.

Most other NACES services have 7 year retention, I think.

    John,

What are the requirements for evaluation agency to become
    NACES member?

Is it on their NACES web site?

    Thanks,

    Misha
