I already have an Assoc. Degree and a Bachelor's In Bus.
However, I have decided to change careers and I am wanting to teach.......particularly in Mathematics.

Is there any DL schools that will accept the numerous amount credits I have already racked up over the years?

Plus, I have about 40 (+/-) credit hours in Math...up to Calculus III, and roughly 275 (+/-) total credits hours.

Can anyone help me with finding a DL school that I can do from home.

    Thank you.

You sound like an excellent candidate for one of the following:

    Excelsior College
    http://www.excelsior.edu/

    Thomas Edison State College
    http://www.tesc.edu/

    Charter Oak State College
    http://www.cosc.edu/

As a first-time poster you may not be aware, but there is a search engine on this site. Check it out. Run these schools and your desired degree program through the search engine and check out the previous discussions!

An outstanding resource for you would be the BA in 4 Weeks web site (don't be "put-off" by the name of this web site, the advice is legitimate - as in NOT a degree mill, and you may or may not be able to expedite your studies via the advice provided):

Another outstanding source of information would be Jonnie Liu's web page:

    Welcome!

When questions like yours appear I am always concerned that the person asking the question doesn't know much about entering the teaching field. I'm assuming that you don't. It may be entirely possible for you to earn your second Bachelors, this one in Math, through the means described in the previous posting. This, however, will not automatically qualify you to teach mathematics. You will need to obtain a teaching credential as well. This frequently includes specific coursework and a student teaching internship. Some states have "alternative routes" to teaching certification but these need to be explored /pursued independently of any mathematics degree program. Good luck,
    Jack
BTW, you may want to explore the prospect of obtaining a Masters degree in the teaching of Mathematics (I think there's one in Idaho). Your BA plus your math credits might qualify you for a grad program. Why eat hamburger when you can have steak?

A few weeks ago, I came across a web site at a public university that was attempting to list links to all state's teaching qualifiction data. I believe no one has posted this site here, but it was somewhere in the Indiana-Kentucky-Tennesee (or nearby states), and my immediate web search failed to turn up this valuable resource...
Perhaps someone else will be good enough to list it here?

In any event, this link will be of interest to nobycane:

    Good evening!

Orson, perhaps you were thinking of the 50 States Certification Database at the University of Kentucky. If you go to http://www.uky.edu/Education/TEP/usacert.html on the web, there is a database of links to each state's educational office. At every link I tried, there was information on many topics including alternative routes to licensure.

    I hope this helps!

    Regards,

I believe my initial question wasn't clearly defined:
I am wanting to change careers and go into to education.
I already hold a Bachelors Degrees, I am attempting to do some initial research in finding out what schools I can apply in the form of Distance Learning (time/money restraint).

I haven't received enough information to really understand what my options are. The other reason is the Florida Dept. Ed requirements for teaching/instructors, I have to understand what they require as far as credentials go.

So if I can get a second Bachelors (in math), I need to find a DL school that will accomidate my needs.
    OR
IF a Masters Degree is another way to go, then great.

I realize I need to understand what is all involved to become an instructor...which is another question for another day

Due to the intricate nature of the state-specific teacher credentialling world the feedback from this board is probably going to be as clear as pea soup... unless there's someone out there from your state who does this professionally or is doing/has gone through this same issue.

Contacting the Education bureaucracy in your state might produce an answer or two... maybe...

    Best of luck...
