Conflicting Exam Credit?

I'm preparing to sit a number of GRE, CLEP, and DANTES exams in the next few months and was reviewing the COSC "Proficiency Tests and Credit Values" chart when I noticed that some test material seems to overlap.

Specifically in the Computer Science area, I intend to take the "Computer Science" GRE and hope for the maximum credits, then take other CS tests. However, if the GRE is a comprehensive test, ostensibly covering information gathered over 4 undergrad years of classwork (or a lot of hands-on experience), then aren't other similar assessment exams covering the same material? And would any of the big three (Excelsior, COSC, or TESC) grant credit for CLEP or DANTES exams covering essentially the same material? Specifically:

Information Systems And Computer Applications (CLEP)
    Introduction to Computing (DANTES)
    Management Information Systems (DANTES)

Similar overlap seems to occur in other disciplines. Has anyone had any experience with this?

I took the CLEP General Social Sciences exam and only received 3 credits because I also took the US History I, Intro to Sociology, and a Government class at a local college.

I took the Intro to Computers DANTES and did not get any credit since I had taken other computer classes that covered the same information. I was told that I would not get credit for Information Systems And Computer Applications also. I did get credit for the MIS exam but I did not take the GRE.

    Hope this helps.

    overlap

Of the courses you mentioned the only one that might overlap is "introduction to computing" -if it is a introductory programing course. The others are information systems courses and would not overlap at all.

I do not believe that TESC grants credits for any GRE subject test . Also, at one point Excelsior stopped granting credit for the CS GRE. I looked at their website a while ago, however, and there was not mention of it, so maybe they changed their policy

I don't think hands on experience would help you much on the CS GRE test. You should try the sample test at www.gre.org. It is nasty.

BTW, has anyone in this forum passed the CS GRE ? Planing to take it ?
