Hello All, I have received notification of preliminary acceptance to Touro's PhD in Educational Leadership. Is there anyone on this board who has attained, or is attaining, this degree? Also, how many Touro GA's do we have here? How hard is it to get approved as a GA? I understand it is quite a cost reduction. Kindly, Steven King
I am a GA. To become a GA, you must submit your CV to the Dean. There is an "unrelated" scholarship award. Send me an e-mail and I'll provide more information.
TUI Steve: I am presently a Ph.D. learner at TUI also and I have just submit my resume for consideration as a GA. Since the University has entered explosive growth in their Graduate programs, they are starting to appoint more GA's. I am in the Business Administration program so I am not familiar with the opportunities in Ed. Leadership. It is best to email the Dean of the Dept. and inquire. It does credit $1,500 per course that you are a GA. Good Luck
I have an unrelated question regarding TUI's Ph.D. program. I am also looking at the Ph.D. in Educational Leadership and from what TUI has told me, you complete a 48 semester core and consentration and then you start the Dissertation phase. Now from what TUI has explained, you get 8 credits for each session you are enrolled (after course work) until you finish the dissertation. My question to them was, is the final dissertation the remaining 12 credits to equal a 60 credit hour Ph.D. or do you continue to add those credits to your total until you finish. They explained that you would continue to add those credits until you finish the dissertation. With that being said, one student could have a 64 credit Ph.D. (finishing very early) while someone else may have a 100+ credit Ph.D. because it took them 2+ years to finish. Is it me, or does that sound funny? I have heard of some Ph.D programs (Tech. Management) being 90 hours long but that is not all on the dissertation. Am I understanding TUI correctly or am I missing something. Thanks for any insight!! Duff
So does anyone have any clarification on the credit issue? Is that how it is structured in the Business program?
